Shane was born August 29, 1975.
He graduated from Jonesboro High School.
His late father Billy was also a dirt racer.
Brother’s Rusty and Joey drive asphalt cars.
Shane has been married since June 7, 1997 to wife Jennifer.
They have a son Ryan Zachary who was born on January 28, 2003.
Shane’s hobbies include snow skiing, deep sea fishing, spending time with his family, and of course racing.
Shane started his racing career in 1994 in the Sportsman class running locally at Dixie Speedway & 7 Flags Speedway. Then, he started running at Talladega Short Track, Green Valley, and Phoenix City in the Sportsman class. He recorded over 50 wins during his Sportsman career.
His first full year in the late models was in 2002. He ran locally this year and picked up 2 feature wins.
SAE Parts Inc. came on board in 2003. Shane had 7 wins in 2003, including the Ice Bowl, the Winter Classic, and the $10,000 Georgia Challenge at North Georgia Speedway.
In 2004, Shane won the Stacker 2 Xtreme DirtCar Series Rookie of the Year, and also finished 7th in Overall Points. Shane also captured 5 wins in ’04, including the $10,000 to win World of Outlaws sanctioned event at North Georgia Speedway, and the $10,000 Dixie Shootout (XDCS) at Dixie Speedway!

Shane had an up and down year in 2005. Becoming a Dirty Dozen member was what Shane wanted. He started out strong with wins at the Ice Bowl, and the $10,000 James King Memorial at Columbus Mississippi. A mid season shoulder injury and surgery took Clanton out of commission for about 2 months. Despite the injury Shane ended up 10th in the World of Outlaws points. He ended the season with a bang winning the $10,000 to win World of Outlaw race at Golden Isles Speedway, the Tar Heel 50, and the $5000 Turkey Rumble at North Georgia Speedway.

Shane had some great success in 2006. Shane had some big wins including the Yankee Doodle 50 in PA. He also had a World of Outlaw at Tri-City Speedway. Shane won his biggest career win at the Lucas Oil race in Rome, GA. winning $15,001. Then two nights later broke his record win by winning the World of Outlaw Pittsburgher 100 winning $18,000. Shane finished 2nd in the World of Outlaw points just 18 points behind the winner.
